Live sound seems to be a very interesting field. Some of the audio engineering concepts such as identifying the room's standing wave, as well as using gates and compressors were better clarified to me when demonstrated live. In addition, the technique of tapering loudspeakers is mind-blowing; it's such a simple idea once you understand it and yet it's brilliant.
When I was in the first trimester, acoustics was the topic I liked studying the most. In many ways, I've always been interested in architecture and the idea of working with acoustics really fired up a hidden spike of energy and motivation in me, and being able to re-engage in this area--even with a live sound approach to it--has reminded me why I love audio.
